Pita or Bowl is conveniently located between our drive from Chicago to St. Louis when I was craving something other than the usual fast food options. We ordered a chicken shawarma wrap and a gyro bowl with veggies and chickpeas on top of hummus. The hummus was delicious, fresh, and creamy, but in hindsight I would have preferred rice as the base. The wrap was a bit dry but the chicken itself was tasty. We ordered the baklava cheesecake for dessert and it was so unique and decadent! The layers of crunchy flaky honey went well with the cheesecake.

Chicago to Los Angeles means trying new culinary options when the hungries take over. We were passing through Springfield, Illinois and it was lunchtime. We love, love, love Mediterranean style cuisine and so we chose Pita or Bowl today for lunch. This is kind of like spinning the spinner on Wheel of Fortune except you don't need to buy a vowel to discover the answer. You just need to pick a delightful option from the menu. We chose to construct our own bowls. Two bowls with basmati rice covered in generous helpings of falafel in one and chicken shawarma in the other. We added toppings of pickled turnips, pickles, cabbage, and red onions. These masterpieces were then finished with a ladle of tahini sauce spread over the top. The shawarma was excellently spiced and cooked. Mixed with the tahini sauces, toppings, and basmati rice this was very tasty! The falafel bowl had the same ingredients except with the falafel traded for the chicken. The falafel was well prepared with a nice crunch to the exterior and a light nicely spiced interior. Both bowls were taste festivals! We are sorry that we were only passing through because we would love to make many return trips to Pita or Bowl in the future so we could to try more of the yummy options.

Food is Amazing! Nothing here is less than delicious. Pita chips may have been the best I've ever had. Staff is so friendly and will help with any foods or words that are confusing. Make your own concept is so great with such incredible and diverse flavors. Clean store, great staff, awesome food. Like chipotle but way better. This place is a hole in the wall treasure of Springfield. Can't recommend enough!

Yumm, great food, great customer service. The lady is always nice and is super friendly especially with returning customers. Price range is $8-$15 per bowl or wrap. Super reasonably priced. The beef cubes and shawarma is actually lean and of good quality. Considering that this place has a fast food feel to it. Definitely recommend! I'm a loyal customer here Yummm

So I was a bit surprised when I popped on in here for lunch a month ago...was not what I was expecting. I suppose I believed there would be a bunch of different options but it was much more simplistic ordering. Ironically enough though, I was pleased with the easy ordering process and my bowl was outstanding. Not much in the way of service as you order at the front counter, grab your food and away you go. I am not a fan of music playing through speakers set up on a table and the restaurant itself was quite warm (maybe A/C couldn't keep up with the summer swelter) but I would easily make a return trip because the food was that good!

Great food and awesome people! We had a blast talking to the servers. They obviously love their job and enjoy the customers. We were a table of seven, with a baby and a young man with special needs. They accommodated us with no problem at all. The food was amazing too! We definitely want to come back soon.

The best Mediterranean food in Springfield! Springfield has been in need of a vegan friendly Mediterranean restaurant for a long time so I'm happy that I've discovered this place! They have tons of vegan friendly options, from falafel to baba ghanoush to lentil soup and more! All vegan friendly options are marked with a leaf! It's a really nice atmosphere and everyone is super knowledgeable and very friendly.

Casual place for Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food. It's an order at the counter and fill it as you go operation. Pita Or Bowl, that is the question. Actually you can get neither, as in there's other options to choose. This is also one of the few places in Springfield to get this kind of food, and therefore a good place for those looking for healthier or plant based meals. Bowls are the most popular option, according to my observations when I was in here. It's a good option when you're really hungry and want to get a lot. This time I wasn't that hungry, so I got a pita. It's about $7 with falafel. You also get a protein choice, and the meats include chicken and gyro. Falafel of course is the best. They also put on a crap ton of toppings at no cost for loading it up. Get as much as you can and pay the same price. They also have a few sides. Good options but if hungry I would get a bowl. It has the most stuff in it. The prices seem kind of high so be sure to get as much free toppings.
